Al Franken and Air America: All Class

First picture: Al Franken physically goes after Laura Inghram's producer (hat tip: Hindrocket at Power Line). Second picture: The Air America folks boil down the Kerry campaign and modern leftist intellectualism to its basic element while broadcasting at the RNC (hat tip: Spot On).

Thoughts Go Out To Detective William Sample

And the rest of the boys (and girls) in blue.  Detective Sample is a New York plainclothes detective who was beaten into unconsciousness (go to the middle of the page) by one of those "peaceful protesters" currently infesting New York City.  He's in stable conditions but has had serious damage done to his face from being repeatedly kicked in the head while he was down.  The scumbag(s) who apparently did his level best to murder a NYC police detective remains at large.  Not surprisingly, the ACLU heard "NYPD" and, like Pavlov's uglier, slightly retarded dog, it has taken the side of the thugs and blamed the NYPD for the attack on Detective Sample.

To the NYPD:  Stay safe, guys.
Watch out for each other.
And catch this POS.

Rudy in '08

I've been saying for a long time that I would support him in a heartbeat. Now, apparently, Rudy Guiliani is saying that he's considering a run for the Presidency in 2008. If he did run and could get through the Republican primaries where his moderate social views would be a liability, he really could unite the country (except for that fringe element that is congenitally ununitable). As a foreign policy hawk, a social moderate and an all around mensch, Rudy would have a real shot at greatness.

New Poll

Well, the TV vs. Library poll was interesting with over 80% of responders saying that they'd rather be on a desert island with access to every book ever written than with a TV with every channel.  For at least one reader, the lack of TiVo was decisive.  Not me, folks.  If I'm going to be stuck by myself on a desert island,  I at least want Sportcenter and Simpsons reruns and, of course, Fox reality shows and daytime talk shows to remind me that there are people who are worse off than I am.

Anyway, we have a new poll.  There has been so much attention lately on John Kerry and his fitness for command that his number 2 man has been pretty much forgotten.  And yet, should Kerry be elected and have something happen to him (windsurfing accident while on a secret, unscheduled trip to Cambodia , tragic ketchup-related mishap, him deciding that he wanted to run for the Presidency but not, you know, be President, etc.), it's John Edwards that will have to lead this nation through the very difficult and challenging times that we find ourselves in.  So, the question is a simple one.  Do you think that he is ready, right now, to be President of The United States of America?

Woman Turns Husband's Remains into Diamond

No, really.  Now he's definitely that girl's best friend.  Honestly, I'm hot sure how I feel about this.  You know what?  If it makes her happy and brings her a degree of comfort and the rest of his family has no real objection, I say, why not?  Let her find comfort in her own way.  You know, it occurs to me that if I put on a few more pounds, I'll be good for 3 karats.  Hmm ... no wonder Msbhivin's been feeding me so well lately.

Question:  If she eventually decides to sell the diamond for some reason, should she be required to inform the buyer that it was once her hubby?

More Murder From "Militants"

And in Israel, sixteen are dead and about a hundred are injured following two nearly simultaneous bus bombings in central Beersheba.  As usual, there are heroes amongst the carnage who prevented an even more horrific tragedy.  One hero today was Yaakov Cohen, the driver of the number 12 bus, who stopped the bus and opened the doors after he heard the first explosion behind him. Fifteen seconds later, the bomb on his bus went off.  Some people who were able to get off the bus likely owe their lives to Mr. Cohen's swift action.

Mr. Cohen was lightly wounded and said he would return to driving bus number 12 "as soon as possible with God's help, and this time I will be more on the alert."

Thank you, Yaakov Cohen.  You are a fine example of a resilient people.

Religion of Peace Slaughters a Dozen Innocents

A dozen Nepalese civilian workers were taken prisoner and subsequently slaughtered by Iraqi practitioners of the Religion of Peace "for their cooperation with the United States in fighting Islam and its people."  The murderers made no demands and set no deadlines for the release of the men.  These men were not soldiers and they were not killed in battle.  They were civilians working for a Nepalese company that works under a Jordanian firm doing business in Iraq.  This is the enemy we face.  They will run on the battlefield and attack from the shadows at our friends and allies and the most innocent and defenseless among us.  It's a new war.

How Much Will Russia Take?

My prediction?  Not too much more.  Today, Chechens working in the name of The Religion Of Peace murdered eight more Moscovites with a car bomb by a subway entrance.

It's been a busy, busy day for the Religion of Peace.  Folks, as of right now, the Russian armed forces are not remotely as well equipped, trained, supported, funded or effective as the U.S. armed forces.  However, they are, in some limited circumstances, far, far more dangerous.  This is simply because their government, which is not restrained by pro-ROP public opinion or a pro-appeasement opposition party and doesn't much care what France or anyone else has to say,  is much more likely to tell them to just take the gloves off and deal with the problem.

If and when they are given the order to take the gloves off, the Russian military will take them all the way off.  They will not negotiate with an overmatched foe or concern themselves with civilians or collateral damage or the 67th holiest site in Islam or what the press (hah!) will think.  They will not worry over which tactics are appropriate or the Geneva Conventions and, believe me, the issue of prisoner treatment will never be a concern.  Some day soon, the Russian people are going to communicate to Putin that they want him to protect them, by any means necessary, or they will find someone who will.  And he will listen to them.  That day may have already come.

New Comments Policy

In light of trolls posting anonymously, as other people, etc., I have decided to change the comments policy here on The Daily Blitz on a trial basis.  From now on, in order to comment, you have to be a motime member.  Now, it is extremely easy to become a member.  All you have to do is go here and create a blog.  You don't have to use the blog or maintain the blog or pay for anything.  The whole process should take less than five minutes and is not much more burdensome than any other registration process.  Give it a try and tell me what you think.

Clinton Destroys the Irony Meter

When he proclaims that the Swiftboat Vets ads bear "false witness."  Not only does Clinton, who knows a thing or two about bearing false witness, provide absolutely no support for his assertion, but he manages to lie even while defending Kerry and accusing veterans of lying:

"All the guys that were on the boat with him say he told the truth. The records say he told the truth. There have been no serious disputes about any of the incidents in which he earned his medals," Clinton said outside the Landmark Riverside Church in upper Manhattan.

Um, Mr. Clinton?  Take a look here and tell me again how all of the men on his boat support Kerry.  Take a look at this and talk to me about the records and the truth.  No serious disputes about any of the incidents in which he earned his medals?  Really?  Maybe it depends on what the meaning of "serious" is.  Or "any."  Or "his."  Who knows, with Clinton.

A Sailor on Kerry's Boat Disputes Kerry's Account of Events

No, not the swiftboat.  The U.S.S. Gridley, a guided missile cruiser where Kerry served as an ensign.    Here is what radarman Phil Carter had to say:

I was an E-5 radarman on the USS GRIDLEY and was onboard from 1965 until May of 1968.  My principal role in 67 and 68 was to prepare intelligence information to brief the rescue helo pilots and the ship’s officers.  I received a commendation from CINCPACFLT for this activity.  I stood quite a few CIC watches with Ensign Kerry where we discussed many things, including the war.  I was college educated, had traveled extensively in Europe before the Navy and spoke French, so there was some commonality despite my being enlisted.  By that time, I was on my 3rd cruise and against the way the war was being waged.  He was not, as I recall.

I am a registered independent and have no axe to grind with him.  I gave him a reasonably large campaign contribution in the mid 1990’s and visited with him for about 30 minutes in an alcove outside the Senate chambers in 1996 when I was in DC on business.

Ensign Kerry was a fine young officer.  He came aboard as a boot Ensign on June 8, 1967 and quickly impressed the senior officers in his chain of command.  His fitness reports were outstanding.  His privileged upbringing with experience in yachting and flying a private plane gave him a leg up on the other Ensigns.

When I read “Tour of Duty”, I became concerned because the material on Kerry’s time on GRIDLEY appeared in many instances to be exaggerations and in some cases figments of an overactive imagination.

Here are my observations on the sections that bothered me:

 1.  Kerry never talked about his time on GRIDLEY.  He says on page 74 that it is because “nothing much of note” happened while he was onboard.  He uses words like monotony and tedious, when, despite being a boot ensign he was given every opportunity for responsibility by Captain Slifer and Commander Kelly (XO).  He came aboard designated for Electrical Officer (80100), a grunt position in the Engineering Department and spent four months in that position.  He was assigned duty as First Lieutenant, as Commander Kelly recalls, because of his knowledge of seamanship and his experiences with small boats and sailing.  Besides being responsible for the decks of the ship, the First Lieutenant is also responsible for the ship’s small boats.  He also was assigned collateral duties as Public Affairs Officer.  Despite all the responsibilities he was given, he gives the impression that serving on GRIDLEY was somehow beneath him.  He certainly had less of an opportunity to collect “gongs” there.

 2.  Page 78 – “motivate 400 swabbies” – The First Lieutenant is responsible only for the personnel of 1st Division, not the entire crew.  1st Division had a roster of about 30 in 1968.  To the extent that other divisions had responsibility for deck space, their officers would have been responsible for motivating them.

 3.  Page 87 has Kerry “shuttling sailors and provisions” between GRIDLEY and KITTY HAWK in a small motor whaleboat out in the Gulf of Tonkin.    The regular method of travel between the two ships was via helo.  That is how I went over to the KITTY HAWK.  If such an event did occur, it would have been unusual and hardly a shuttle.

 4.  Later on page 87 Kerry talks about Olongapo in the Philippines.  He talks about bloated corpses floating in the river and starving women with babies dying of malnutrition.  Now Olongapo was a wild and wooly town that existed solely for the entertainment of the US Navy, but in over three years of calling there, I never saw a single instance of either thing happening.  Kerry uncovered this in his first visit.  If this was from his letters home then he was certainly writing for dramatic effect.  Balderdash.

 5.  The trip to Danang – GRIDLEY went into Danang for briefings before going to Northern SAR.  This section is so full of hyperbole that the urge to giggle is almost uncontrollable.  “The panic and pressure onboard GRIDLEY, strapping on a .45, wondering if I would have to use it, B-52’s howling overhead”.  A B-52 over Danang would have been so high that only contrails would have been visible, cloud cover permitting.  David Simons confirmed my recollection that during our brief stay in Danang Harbor, the sky was overcast to the point of being ominous.

More seriously, no one can remember John Kerry going ashore.  I was part of the shore party that went to Monkey Mountain.  We were taken in a screened in truck (to protect against grenades being tossed in) and made to unload our .45’s.  The driver said that he did not want us newbies to shoot anyone by accident.

Neither Commander Kelly nor LCDR Rueckert (Kerry’s immediate boss) can recall approving a trip ashore for Ensign Kerry.  The author uses remarks of David Simons IC2 as a lead in to the Danang section.  I spoke to David and he has no personal knowledge of Kerry going ashore at all.  He did talk to a researcher and made some generic remarks about Danang but had never discussed Danang with Kerry.  He recalls arguing with the researcher because he tried to put the words “cowboy” in his mouth, which ended up in the book.

There is no mystery about the “gruesome site of a pile of dead VC.”  We saw no sign of anything like this.  However, our escort to Monkey Mountain did tell us how the VC bodies were stacked up on the LZ’s after the TET Offensive, which had been several months before.  Ensign Kerry would have been told this story by members of the shore party.

If, indeed, he got to the pier, because he was in charge of the motor whaleboat, it certainly would not have been within his purview to wander Danang, eating dog meat and drinking beer in a bar (under arms).  It also seems amazing that he had all these observations on Vietnam in such a brief visit.

 6.  In command – Again with the hyperbole.  Kerry makes much about being “in charge” of the ship after the Captain and XO.  The OOD is in charge of the operation of the ship during his four hour watch but hardly in charge of the ship.  Kerry qualified almost immediately as OOD(P), in port OOD but that is a given.  For much of his time onboard he would have been Junior Officer of the Deck when underway.  Although his fitness report as of 22 March says "he is qualified as OOD(I) now" (Independent steaming – with no ships or land anywhere near) , only OOD(P) is listed under duties.  His Fitness Report from July 1968 lists two months as OOD(I) which would mean he qualified after leaving the war zone.

Some of these points may be perceived as picky, but they seem to show a deliberate effort in his writings of the time to build a mystique for a future political career showing him as a great leader, father confessor to the ship and astute analyst of political and military happenings.

That is not to say that Kerry was not a good officer.  He was and to my recollection was well liked.  Did he stalk the passageways showing his future presidential timber?  Absolutely not.  A reporter from the Chicago Tribune actually asked me that.  When I told him that he was just another goofy Ensign, he was horrified and did not use that quote.

I corresponded with a CNN Producer who was working on Kerry's bio that was shown on July 25.  I provided them with three or four photographs of Kerry on GRIDLEY but they were uninterested in anything else I had to say.

John Edwards was right. You want to know about John F. Kerry?  Just ask the men who served with him.

The Great Espionage Story

This was supposed to be the one. Finally, the AIPAC-PNAC-ZOG-Halliburton-Bushco-Likud conspiracy would be blown wide open. Israeli spy in the Pentagon!! Jews run amuck!!! AAARRRGGHH!!!!

Checking the major news sites today, we find the following:
CNN front page: No mention of Israel or spies.
MSNBC front page: Madonna & friends are going to Israel. No other mention of Israel or spies.
Fox News front page: An intern writes about moving to Israel and a story about Sharon'e Gaza pullout plans. Nothing about spies.
Drudge Report: Nothing on Israel or spies.
Who still has space for this on their front page? ABC and CBS.

No surprise there and no surprise that after just a few days this story is disappearing like a fart in the wind. The life of a tinfoil hat moonbat must be a frustrating one.

Most Surprising Endorsement to Date

You know, I wouldn't have called this one in a hundred years. When I saw it on Fox News I thought I was watching The Daily Show. It turns out that Don King is stumping for President Bush. Now, I've never been a fan of Don King, so I'm not sure that this is a good thing. I'd guess that, barring an incredibly close vote, this particular endorsement will neither ehlp nor hurt. However, on the surprise scale, it's an eleven. Some quotes, from the ever quotable King:

On Bush as the "new kind of White Liberal"

What is needed,” M. L. King, Jr. said, “was a new kind of White Liberal, the kind who not only rises up with righteous indignation when a Negro is lynched in Mississippi, but will be equally incensed when a Negro is denied the right to live in his neighborhood, or join his professional association, or secure a top position in his business.”

I submit to you that George Walker Bush is that new kind of White Liberal. Why? Because of George Walker Bush’s dynamic, bold, audacious leadership, patriotism, wisdom, honesty and, most of all, his indomitable courage. He personifies as well as anyone could the exemplary character of the American nation.

His relentless war on terrorism and his bold, revolutionary commitment to one single America for all Americans call unequivocally for a second emancipation … one that emancipates White Americans as well as Black Americans.
The failure of the first emancipation was that it did not emancipate the White people and used color as the impregnable barrier to block the door of the mental process of the White people in social as well as political life. This color barrier desensitized the mind and made Blacks invisible.

George Walker Bush gave Blacks visibility. Blacks had no rights … Blacks did not count. George Walker Bush boldly and audaciously changed that type of thought process. He appointed two Blacks, Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice to diplomatically negotiate, secure and protect our nation’s liberties and freedoms.

Understandably, therefore, the word inclusion never entered the mind, the character or the conduct of a representative White man and race leader. The color barrier not only blocked his mind, it arrested and imprisoned virtue, morality, ethics and condemned truth.

“Truth crushed to the earth will rise again.”

Human government is for the protection of rights. The color barrier form of Government is crumbling … thanks to George Walker Bush!

. . .

On his own motivations:

"My fellow Americans, I have been asked many times, why do you support George Walker Bush? My answer straight and to the point is that George Walker Bush is the man with the plan to make America better for Blacks and Whites alike. I love George Walker Bush because he loves America. George Walker Bush loves the American people. He cares about us and he is doing something about it.

What is he doing? Before I go further, let me set the record straight. A little self-examination.

Question: Why are you saying these things about President Bush?
Answer: Because I believe them to be true!!

Question: Are you being paid to say them?
Answer: No.

Question: Are you on the payroll of the RNC?
Answer: No.

Question: Are you in any trouble?
Answer: No.

Question: Are you being bribed, intimidated, or coerced?
Answer: No.

Question: Then as an African American, why are you
campaigning for George Walker Bush?
Answer: I am a Republicrat and I am campaigning for a “Better America,” Black and White alike. I love America and I love the American people. My mission is to work for a better America for Blacks and Whites alike. George Walker Bush is the man with the plan to make America Better. “Working together works.”

Only in America.

How Am I Supposed To Live Without You?

Laura Branigan, who gave us hits like "Gloria" and "Solitaire" and "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You?" passed away this past Thursday because of a Brain aneurysm. She was just 47. How very sad.

A Disturbing Interview

It is a sad fact of life that being an artistic or musical genius does not mean that one is not deeply flawed or disturbed in other ways.  In fact, the anecdotal evidence suggests that those who are especially blessed in one way are often cursed in another.  So it is, it would seem, with Mikis Theodorakis, the talented Greek composer who is, sadly, a full-blown anti-Semite.  Except that he doesn't see it that way.  No, he's in the "anti-Sharon" and "anti-Bush" camp, in his own mind, just like millions of other anti-Semites who go around telling you that there is a difference between anti-Semitic and anti-Israel and anti-Zionist.  Mr. Theodorakis recently said that Jews are fanatics and that Israel is the root of evil.  Now, he gives an interview to a Jewish reporter to clarify and expand on his remarks.  It is, truly, one of the saddest interviews that I have ever read.  It is so full of ignorance, so full of classical anti-Semitism, so clearly reflective of a large segment of world opinion.  Here are some excerpts:

Question: Mr. Theodorakis, on November 4, 2003 you said in this house the words that shocked Jews and non-Jews across the world. You said that the Jewish people are at the root of evil. What did you mean?

Answer: "For me the root of evil today is the policy of President Bush. It is a fascist policy. I cannot understand how is it that the Jewish people, who have been the victims of Nazism, can support such a fascist policy. No other people in the world support those policies but Israel! This situation saddens me. I am a friend of Israel. I am a friend of the Jewish people. But the policy of Sharon and the support for the policy of Bush darkens the image of Israel. I am afraid that Sharon is going to lead the Jews - just as Hitler led the Germans - to the root of evil."

. . .

"I don't believe there is anti-Semitism in Europe. There is a reaction against the policy of Sharon and Bush. I think it's artificial to think there is a new anti-Semitism. It's an excuse. It's a way to avoid self-criticism. Rather than ask themselves what is wrong with the policy of Israel, Jews say the Europeans are against us because of the new anti-Semitism. Because they don't love us. And even Theodorakis says we are at the root of evil. This is a sick reaction."

Why? In what way is it a sick reaction?

"Because this kind of reaction is relevant to the psychopathology of the Jewish people. They want to feel victims. They want to have this comforting feeling. We are in the right, we are again victims. Let's create another ghetto. It's a masochistic reaction." The Jews are masochists?

"There is psychological masochism in the Jewish tradition."

Is there sadism as well?

"I'm certain that when Diaspora Jews talk among themselves, they feel satisfied. They feel that now, when we are so close to the greatest power in the world, no one can do anything to us. We can do whatever we like. This is why the claim of new anti-Semitism is not only a sick reaction, it's a sly reaction as well."

In what way is it sly?

"Because it really allows the Jews to do whatever they want. Not only psychologically, but also politically, it gives the Jews an excuse. The sense of victimhood. It gives them a license to hide the truth. There is no Jewish problem in Europe today. There is no anti-Semitism."

Emphasis added.  Theodorakis goes on to discuss how the Jews control international finance, how they are secretive and sneaky and fanatical, how they control the music industry and the media and, of course, Bush.  It is a laundry list of every anti-Semitic charge and yet, in his mind, he is not an anti-Semite.  There is no anti-Semitism, just sly, manipulative Jewish victimhood.  Go read the interview.  Theodorakis does not speak for just himself.  He speaks for much of the world.

Friday Poetry - Annabel Lee

Sorry about the delay with the Friday poetry ... life got a bit busy for a bit there.

I've always liked the writing of Edgar Allen Poe and, as it happens, we (he and I) have something in common.  We were both once members of The Jefferson Literary and Debating Society at Mr. Jefferson's University and spent our Friday evenings drinking with a bunch of geeks who thought that they could write (except that Edgar really could write).  So here's a love poem for you from my fellow Society member.

Annabel Lee
by Edgar Allan Poe

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

What Liberal Media?

This liberal media.  Harper's columnist slams GOP speeches ... that haven't happened yet.

Very Special Delivery

A young Cuban woman stuffed herself into a small wooden crate and shipped herself to Miami.  I guess nobody told her how terrible it is in America or else she never would have risked her life to leave the worker's paradise that is Cuba.

Reuters gets on the Kerry Payroll

Check out the captions that Reuters puts under photos of Max Cleland trying to deliver a letter to the President.  Yup; they call "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" "Swift Boat Veterans for Bush."  This is from a supposed "news organization."

Where, oh where could Reuters have picked up such a phrase?  How about on the John F. Kerry website?

From the Democrats' Letter to Bush

The letter that Max Cleland tried to deliver had a phrase that caught my eye:

"Our pain from seeing these slanderous attacks stems from something much more fundamental, that if one veteran's record is called into question, the service of all American veterans is questioned."

Really? Is that so? So, if I question the record of, say, Lynndie England or Charles Graner, Jr. or William Calley, I am calling into question "the service of all American veterans?"  Have the signatories of that letter condemned Lt. Kerry as he continues to hypocritically question the service of President Bush, a veteran, on his official website?  Has Lt. Kerry denounced Michael Moore yet for attacking President Bush's military record?  Maybe Lt. Kerry had a talkabout that with Moore as Moore sat in the Presidential box during the Democratic National Convention.

Hypocrites.

A Cocky Feeling of Invincibility, eh?

According to Lt. Kerry, on December 2, 1968 he engaged in combat with the enemy, was shot at and was wounded in the course of hostile action.

Then, on December 9, 1968, Lt. Kerry wrote the following in his journal:

"A cocky feeling of invincibility accompanied us up the Long Tau shipping channel because we hadn't been shot at yet, and Americans at war who haven't been shot at are allowed to be cocky,"

Question, Lt. Kerry: What kind of circumstances allow this kind of cocky lie?  How is Max Cleland going to help you out of this one?

BTW, Lt. Kerry still refuses to release the journal ... or his full medical records ... or his full military records ...

One last question, Lt. Kerry:  Who was with you on your boat when you were in Cambodia?  Just one or two names will do.

Letter to John F. Kerry

The more Kerry struggles to get out of the mess he's made by attacking and smearing  (both now and 30 years ago) men who served honorably, the worse his predicament gets.  Here's a letter that Lt. Kerry received today:

August 25, 2004

Senator John Kerry
304 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Kerry,

We are pleased to welcome your campaign representatives to Texas today. We honor all our veterans, all whom have worn the uniform and served our country. We also honor the military and National Guard troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan today. We are very proud of all of them and believe they deserve our full support.

That’s why so many veterans are troubled by your vote AGAINST funding for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, after you voted FOR sending them into battle. And that’s why we are so concerned about the comments you made AFTER you came home from Vietnam. You accused your fellow veterans of terrible atrocities – and, to this day, you have never apologized. Even last night, you claimed to be proud of your post-war condemnation of our actions.

We’re proud of our service in Vietnam. We served honorably in Vietnam and we were deeply hurt and offended by your comments when you came home.

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t build your convention and much of your campaign around your service in Vietnam, and then try to say that only those veterans who agree with you have a right to speak up. There is no double standard for our right to free speech. We all earned it.

You said in 1992 “we do not need to divide America over who served and how.” Yet you and your surrogates continue to criticize President Bush for his service as a fighter pilot in the National Guard.

We are veterans too – and proud to support President Bush. He’s been a strong leader, with a record of outstanding support for our veterans and for our troops in combat. He’s made sure that our troops in combat have the equipment and support they need to accomplish their mission.

He has increased the VA health care budget more than 40% since 2001 – in fact, during his four years in office, President Bush has increased veterans funding twice as much as the previous administration did in eight years ($22 billion over 4 years compared to $10 billion over 8.) And he’s praised the service of all who served our country, including your service in Vietnam.

We urge you to condemn the double standard that you and your campaign have enforced regarding a veteran’s right to openly express their feelings about your activities on return from Vietnam.

Sincerely,

Texas State Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson
Rep. Duke Cunningham
Rep. Duncan Hunter
Rep. Sam Johnson
Lt. General David Palmer
Robert O'Malley, Medal of Honor Recipient
James Fleming, Medal of Honor Recipient
Lieutenant Colonel Richard Castle (Ret.)

I look forward to Lt. Kerry's response to these men.

Don't You Hate It When You Schedule A Trollfest and Nobody Shows?

Our first semi-regular troll, LNMB (that's "Leave No Millionaire Behind"), late of DU and currently residing at the far more "progressive" People for Change is a self-described "self-loathing Jew" who wears his anti-Semitism as a badge of honor.  Well, he decided to contribute to the continued success of The Daily Blitz by asking his fellow "progressives" to pay us a visit.  Specifically, he said:

Would be fun if a few of the terrorist sympathizers from DU would drop in and say hi to Blitz (editor's note - that was my screen name when I posted on DU). And be sure to use your DU screen name.

Blitz can thank me for the exposure later...

LNMB: I'd thank you now except that none of your progressive friends managed to progress their way over.  Oh, a bunch clicked on the site but no one left so much as a "hi, how are you doing, you old zionist pig-dog?"  Even that yapping little puppy, Rat Terrier, would only yap over at P4C.  Sigh ... I mean, I cleaned up, put out the freedom fries with W Ketchup, got a bunch of patriotic ice-cream, buffed and polished the PNAC link in my blogroll and ... nothing.

How very disappointing.  Oh well, maybe this is is a sign of things to come.  We'll see on November 2.

A Civil Rights Group You Should Support

For many, many years I have been a fan of Roy Innis and his organization, The Congress of Racial Equality.  It is an organization that actually strives to live up to its name.  It promotes equality and empowerment, not the acceptable racism and bigotry promoted by so many other "civil rights" groups.  If someone despairs at the lunacy that seems to have possessed the NAACP and black "leaders" like Julian Bond, tell them to look no further than Roy Innis, his son Niger Innis and CORE.

They have been doing great and courageous work for decades.  Isn't it about time the world noticed?

In Appreciation of My Stalker

My stalker has been very, very busy since this past Friday. How busy, you ask? It has visited this site about fifty times since Friday. More, it has posted as me on about a dozen new blogs (and counting). That sort of dedication, however psychotic, deserves recognition. More, The Daily Blitz owes our Whacked Out Stalker (hereafter "WOS") a debt of gratitude. You see, The Daily Blitz would not be the Flappy Bird success that it is (after only 3 months in existence) without the tireless efforts of our WOS.

How is that possible, you wonder? Well, consider the fact that this is the partial list of blogs and message boards that the WOS has posted on as yours truly:

A Small Victory, Allahpundit, The Marshall Tucker Band message board, Sheila Astray's Redheaded Ramblings, The Honest Reporting blog (Backspin), Wizbang, The Queen of All Evil, Armed Liberal, Ghost of a Flea, Accidental Verbosity, Matthew Yglasias, Middle East Information Center, Aaron's Rantblog, The British Pickle, bluestarpr, Just some poor schmuck (yes, that's the name of the blog; look at the blogroll), The Protocols of the Yuppies of Zion, Israellycool, Maariv International, Facts of Israel, No War blog, SlagleRock's Slaughterhouse, Baldilocks, Little Green Footballs, Dean's World, Alphabet City, Beautiful Atrocities, democrats give conservatives indigestion, The Daily Blitz (yes, the idiot tried to post here and sign my name), Best for Israel, The Iron Blog, Winds of Change, The Patriette, Transterrestrial Musings, Tasty Manatees, TruePravda, Urthshu, Visual Rhetoric, Bendomenech, Spot On, Carraig Daire, Thinking Meat, Lord Ben's Meandering Diatribes, Israpundit, The Daily Spork, Matt Margolis, Sobek, ¡No Pasaran!, Lapsus Calami, LGF Watch Watch, LGF Watch, Abstract Dynamics, Kathryn Cramer’s Blog, An Unsealed Room, Blogs of War, Jason H. Erickson’s guestbook, Chaos Central, The Politburo Diktat, Chief Wiggles, Spiced Sass, The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, Insignificant Thoughts, Redsugar Muse, Back Country Conservative, Dear Brian . . .
Like I said, this is just a partial list, and only of those blogs and sites that I am aware of. However, if you take a look at the list, you'll find that many of the blogs on it are also on my blogroll. This is because my stalker has outstanding taste. I mean, there are great blogs on that list that I may not have found for ages but for cleaning up his messes. Blogs like Alphabet City and Beautiful Atrocities and Spot On and Carraig Daire and Chaos Central and The Patriette and many, many others. But for the WOS's obsession with me, my blogging universe would never have become as large as it is and The Daily Blitz would not be nearly as widely read. More than that, other bloggers and blog readers who would never have heard of each other have met through The Daily Blitz, and all thanks to the efforts of some WOS.

So here's to you, WOS. You've done so much to bring the anti-idiotarians of the world together. Your obsession has made this little corner of our community, which stretches from coast to coast, across the Atlantic and into Iraq, much, much stronger. You, like our President, are a uniter. And speaking of President Bush, this blog supports him and you have given it so much exposure. If President Bush should happen to win in a squeaker in November, you can sleep soundly, knowing that you have done your part to help assure that result. Thanks again.
